Loki is an adorable Shih tzu/ Chihuahua mix with a personality that’s much bigger than he is! I had a lovely walk around Halifax the other night with Loki and his owner Amanda. Amanda is an extremely talented artist who does some of the most beautiful digital paintings I have even seen, check out her work here and also her tumblr.
(Seriously, she’s amazing, recognize this dog?!)
We started at the Halifax Commons because Amanda is a bit of a softball fanatic 😉 Loki hopped onto the pitcher’s mound, where he dutifully gave his attention to the camera (and treats!)
Running is a good break from sitting and posing! Loki was so happy to be at the Halifax Commons- it’s such a great multiuse area, the big open green spaces appeal to dogs and humans alike!
When asked, he obediently hopped up on the bleachers to pose for a couple shots.
Before you ask, yes, he has his own softball bandana; and yes, he wears it better than you could 😉
We took another little break for sniffing, running, and exploring the commons!
After spending time at the commons we headed north-east to explore the streets of North End Halifax. I used to live in this area of town, and love the personality of this part of Halifax.
When booking photoshoots and determining locations and I always try to go somewhere that the dog loves and that has meaning for the owner and pet. A lot of times this brings us to fabulous hikes and beach around the HRM.
Loki spends a lot of time going on walks around the city, so that’s what I wanted to do after we visited the baseball diamond. It’s amazing the places that you can find in your own literal backyard! We found some really great little nooks and crannies that made for perfect backdrops.
This blue wall- this is North End Halifax! Bright and beautiful, this part of the city has so much character- which makes for such a fitting backdrop. I mean look at that smile 🙂
Beautiful owner and dog, fun mural wall, yep- perfect.
Wait- a yellow wall with dog’s painted on it? Yep, you bet we had to go there!
Up until this point in our walk it was a cloudy day -threatening rain, but in true Halifax fashion as we walked the weather changed, and we were gifted with beautiful light just before sunset. So I found a little grassy knoll with the light streaming through in behind while Loki looked on.
As we finished up our session and walked back to Amanda’s place I couldn’t help but smile.
Loki’s session was the perfect mix of urban and natural, add that to his infectious smile and I was just smitten!
