Create put-that-up-on-the-wall images of the Milky Way, with the gear you already own …this new moon cycle!
Not after countless nights “practicing”, struggling to get your settings right, with only blurry, dark, & forgettable images to show for your lost sleep.
Have you ever looked up at the night sky in awe and wished you could capture a slice of it on camera?
The only problem is that when you actually get out to take the photos they are...
❌ too blurry
❌ too dark
❌ too bright
Or maybe you get the Milky Way in your frame, in focus, and properly exposed, yes!
But the actual photograph? It doesn’t even come close to representing that feeling of standing under the Milky Way.
Introducing:
The premiere online Milky Way photography course that has taught hundreds of photographers globally to create stunning Milky Way images.
For less than the cost of a new lens, you can create Milky Way images your proud of with your the gear you already own.

What is possible for you?
Two months prior to enrolling in Milky Way Magic: Michael had never used manual mode.
“Before the class I had zero experience with photographing the Milky Way. I was very new to photography and assumed Milky Way photography was well beyond my ability and equipment capabilities. I’m very happy to have been proven wrong! Being outside alone in the middle of the night is wonderful and even a little addictive”

Hi! I’m Kristine, professional photographer, 2x NASA APOD winner and the creator of Milky Way Magic.
It all started in 2020 when the world had turned upside down and I realized I wouldn’t be able to teach my workshops in person for some time to come.
Maybe I’d try this scary online thing??
Little did I know, Milky Way Magic would turn into a movement, a lifeline for many, and the best creative legacy I could ever leave.
Over a thousand students across the globe are waiting to welcome you inside our amazing community to this technical, beautiful and ridiculously rewarding genre of photography.
Milky Way Magic is more than an online course. It’s special in a way I could not have imagined or designed. You’ll find all the details on this page, and stories of alumni to show you what is possible for you too.
Here’s a peek at what Milky Way Magic students have been creating lately:
This is possible for you with the gear you already have.
Get the exact step-by-step framework that my students and I use to create images like these.
I created the framework based off years of shooting at night, decades of teaching photography, and interactions with thousands of students.
It is the exact same process I use to create all of my images, from simple on a crop sensor camera with kit lens (find the lavender photo below) to my full frame cameras with 1.4 lenses.
I can't speak highly enough of Kristine and the class!
It's so easy to learn through Kristine's method of doing things. It's absolutely brilliant. If you're in any doubt, take the plunge. Do it and the results will speak for themselves.
Coastguard's Cottage & Seven Sisters, East Sussex by Steve
I have gone from being a JPEG photographer to shooting in raw and editing my images, which I never did previously!
Kristine has guided me completely along my journey. I never thought three years ago that I would be at the place I am at this point in time.
This is a single image, single edit in ACR. This was taken in Rocky Mountain National Park only two months after LuAnne joined the class.

• LIFETIME access to ALL future live calls and updates!
The modules are here to be your textbook and our LIVE calls are here to make sure you apply what you've learned and turn it into amazing photos!
Q2: What photo skill level is needed?
Milky Way Magic is suitable for all different levels
I know because I designed it that way.
I started teaching photography at NSCAD University when I was 21 (over 18 years ago, please, don’t do the math 😂) where my classes always filled. Since then I have taught tens of thousands of students across varying levels.
Why do you need to know? Because I’m experienced with instructional design and supporting adult learners, this is a course actually built for how you learn. Not just me trying to create Kristine-clones who shoot the exact same.
Milky Way Magic will teach you everything any level photographer needs to know to shoot Milky Way photos, in addition to resources tailored to your experience level with photography:
-
🙋🏻♀️ If you still struggle to shoot in manual or only shoot JPGs because you don’t know how to edit RAW photos.
That’s ok, you’ll learn all of the basic fundamentals of photography (Shutter speed, aperture, ISO, equivalent exposures, histograms) as well as the basics of shooting at night (tripod usage, long exposure photography, intervalometers, camera shake), and editing your RAW files. You’ll be surprised how quickly you can get out shooting at night when you weren’t even confident with your camera before.
Most new photographers are shooting in manual the same month they start the course, and by the end of their first Milky Way season they have captured beautiful single images and edited the RAW files.
-
You’ll start photographing the Milky Way right away by learning planning, the 4 keys framework, and the 6 types of Milky Way photos. Your first couple nights out will dial in your focus and exposure getting a solid single image. From there you can build on to your skills depending on the gear you have and locations accessible.
Most intermediate photographers master shooting singles and stacked images in their first Milky Way season in the course. Subsequent seasons build with blends and panoramics.
-
You’ll see quick results with the fundamentals of Milky Way photography setting you up for success. The first time you shoot the Milky Way you’ll dial in your focus and exposure for a solid single photo, and you’ll probably throw a stacked set in there too (because why not!)
The real transformation will be in the advanced techniques you can put into practice after your first Milky Way shoot. You will level up your images using techniques like stacking, blending, and using alternate foreground lighting.
By the end of your first Milky Way season inside the course you’ll be shooting singles, stacks, and blends easily. The next steps will depend on your gear and goals, but I see most doing advanced combinations (eg. blended panoramics) and starting to use specialized gear.
Kristine shooting in Death Valley National Park as the Milky Way disappears into twilight at blue hour.
Q3: But don’t I need to buy fill-in-the-blank gear first?
Gear ≠ better photos
Knowledge + application = better photos
The thing is, it’s easier to buy something new to fix your photos than it is to uplevel your skills.
GAS (gear acquisition syndrome) is legit and camera gear is so shiny..
I shot these images with a Nikon D5600 and 18-55mm kits lens, a camera combo that is $400 used.
You need:
1. A DSLR or MILC that shoots in manual and goes up to ISO 3200
2. A wide-ish angle lens with fast-ish aperture.
These photos were done on a sub $100 lens, the 18-55mm kit lens at f3.5.
3. A tripod that holds your camera steady
That’s it.
See inside Milky Way Magic with this video ⬇️
I like to know exactly what I’m buying, and I think you should be able to as well. I go through the Milky Way Magic course and bonuses in this comprehensive walkthrough.
Psst. watch for the built-in AI tool only trained on course data aka the next best thing to my clone!
This is the exact same process I have used to create all of my images, module by module:
Module 1: PLANNING YOUR PERFECT PHOTO
This module starts the conversion from regular daytime photographer into a Milky Way master.
You will understand exactly when and where to go to capture the Milky Way, and be armed with the best weather information possible so that when you do have a clear night you will be able to capitalize on it.
Every good Milky Way photo has a photographer behind it that planned the heck out of it.
Module 2: CREATING MILKY WAY MAGIC: THE 4 KEYS
Focus, Compose, Expose, Light, the 4 things every great Milky Way photo requires. Learn these 4 keys of Milky Way photography so that you have the step by step processes to create an amazing Milky Way photo every single time you go out to shoot.
MODULE 3: YOUR FIRST MILKY WAY SHOOT
Oh my gosh! It’s time! The weather is clear, you have a spot picked out, you know your gear, the settings to use, how to focus.. It’s go time!
This module takes you through applying the 4 keys in real life and mastering the single Milky Way photo so that you can build a solid foundation for the next module.
Module 4: CHOOSE YOUR OWN ADVENTURE
Remember these books as a kid? I somehow always ended up being eaten by a bear..
The next step of your journey is starting to create different types of Milky Way photos and this module gives you the step by step processes to apply the 4 keys for each AND how to edit each of them.
Module 5: BRINGING LIFE TO YOUR FOREGROUND: LIGHT PAINTING
Photography is “light writing”. And photographing at night gives us the ultimate control over what our foreground will look like. You get to choose how much light you record, if you add light to the whole foreground, or just a small area. When you control the light, you control everything!
This module will turn you into a light painting master… or a crazy person running around in the dark waving around a flashlight (it’s kind of the same thing 🤷🏻♀️🤷🏻♀️)
But what about learning in person?
Traditional in person workshops where you go to a far away location and pay for room and board in addition to the class itself can cost upwards of $3000 plus airfare totalling at over $5000.
And while it can be exciting to travel to a new location, what about when you come back home?
…When you are outside alone at night trying to remember what you learned in the workshop.
…When you can’t remember the trick for focussing, or how to figure out the exposure with you new lens?
…When you don’t have someone to ask the questions to?
When you sign up for Milky Way Magic you will have lifetime access to all of the videos and all future updates, you can pause, rewind, and rewatch any piece at any time.
And you’ll be able to do so for years to come.
Your class includes lifetime access to 1 LIVE group Q&A call per month in season, and 2 scheduled LIVE critique calls.
AND you will have access to an exclusive facebook group of alumni and current students who support and encourage each other.
I’ve been told numerous times by students that we are the best group on facebook :)
100% Satisfaction Guaranteed*
You have 90 days from today to put Milky Way Magic to the test. That's 90 days to see if we are a right fit.
I can do that because I believe in my training that much!
If you are unable to create images of the Milky Way after going through this class simply email support@kristinerosephotography.com to get your complete refund*
All that I ask is you show me that you've done the work.
Why?
You won't get results if you don't take action and go out and shoot and practice. I can't help you if you don't do the work and I don't want to waste any of my time with someone who is purchasing a program and not putting it to use.
*See Terms & Conditions for details before purchasing.
Can I take an in-person workshop with you?
No, I don’t offer them. As a mom of two young kids I intentionally travel sparsely, and Nova Scotia skies do not take to scheduling workshops easily.
However, as a Milky Way Magic Alumni you get exclusive access to purchase a seat at our Stella Nova Conference* (Next one TBA) where you learn from me and your fellow students for 3 amazing days.
*Conference registration is not included in the price of Milky Way Magic. However, only Milky Way Magic students are allowed to purchase a ticket; this is not an offer open to the general public.

“I did Kristine's full course, and within a month, no kidding, not only did I feel the passion to go to cemeteries and pay homage to the spirits and the people that lay there underneath this Milky Way, but my own skill exploded. Less than a year later, I got my first show at a local art studio.”

“I found Kristine's course through Facebook. It was a game-changer. I took the information I learned from it and ran with it. My photos got better. The following year after participating, I jumped right in and joined [Milky Way Magic]. This year, I actually have a photo in a local gallery. It will remain on display through the summer. I have sold three images and I have another one at print now for a potential sale.”

More alumni who are waiting to welcome you in our class:
Felicia
Every one of Kristine’s course is just so packed with information and so thoughtfully presented.
Her teaching style and skills are really phenomenal. She really speaks to me in a way the way she presents the material. And I love how she kind of builds it's very systematic, builds a strong foundation and then builds on the skills so that you have a really good understanding of things.
Felicia shot this scene of Crystal Crag at Lake Maime
Julie
Surprising benefits from this class is the spillover into my other types of photography.
The concept of planning your shot, having the vision of your end picture in mind before you pick up the camera really spilled over into my studio work because before, I just kind of put some around and just see what would happen. Now I'm being more intentional and trying to get the result I’m looking for.
This is Julie’s photo from the Amboy Volcano which won the People's Choice Award in the Viewbug contest "The Night Sky"
I never even tried to photograph the Milky Way until I met Kristine and joined her class.
I really look forward to being part of this group for a very long time. It's worth every single penny. And Kristine's work will go a long way to showing you so much about photography in general, Photoshop, and of course, shooting the Milky Way.
- Susanna
This course welcomes ALL skill level of photography.
I never did a systemic approach like Kristine's class is presented. And while I did have some good images from that time, I've gotten a lot more good images since I've gotten into Kristine's class. And it's more consistent. I'm getting better results more consistently.
- Ken
I thought I was an intermediate photographer, but no, I'm a beginner. I'm learning so much about editing, stacking photos, taking panoramas, blending them. I'm learning so much. It's awesome.
- Patricia
What I like about Kristine's class is the focus is on the person, it's not on the gear. I say that as a diagnosed autistic person. We're also known for being a bit [literal] and having a pretty rough time with most social situations. But in the Facebook group, that never mattered. People were always so kind and supportive and helpful.
- Charles
Image below is Charles’s first blue hour blend
Since taking that class, I've learned how to get the most out of my equipment. I had trackers and I had lots of lenses and things like that, but I was not utilizing them as best as I could because I really didn't know how.

FAQs
I can’t attend all of the live calls, can I still get support?
Yes! Questions are submitted before the call and all of our live calls are recorded and time-stamped by question. Not only can you get your questions answered you can easily find answers to questions you didn’t know you had.
You also have access to Kristine and alumni inside the facebook group.
And the cherry on top is that you have access to all future live Q&A calls, there is no behind in Milky Way Magic.
I don't feel confident going out at night, is this course for me?
Yes! The number one feedback I have from students is that this course not only gives them all of the information they need in an easily digestible and accessible way, but it also gives them the confidence they need to feel comfortable venturing out in the dark. And I go in depth into safety and precautions in the course as an added layer!
I don't like staying up at night, can I still do this class?
Nope! Sorry. Side effects to taking this course may include losing sleep around the new moon cycle. This type of photography can bee a wee bit addicting, and you will need to be up until full dark to take these images. (I recommend naps! Not just for babies, also for milky way photographers 😂😂)
What Experience do I need?
This might sound hard to believe, but none. Milky Way Magic is actually perfect for people who have never shot in manual or a RAW photo before. You will not only learn how to photograph the Milky Way but also grow leaps and bounds with your regular daytime photography.
What camera do I need?
A DSLR camera with an ISO range that extends to ISO 6400 (though you can make it work with only 3200)
What lens(es) do I need?
A wide-ish angle lens. Your 18-55mm kit lens will work fine! On full frame up to 50mm, on APS-C up to a 35mm.
Anything other gear?
A stable tripod. There are other optional accessories that we go over in the course but they are not 100% necessary.
Where can I be located?
You can live almost anywhere in the world. If your latitude is north of 65˚ you will not be able to see the Milky Way core at night.
What software do I need?
The main editing software that I use and teach is Adobe Camera Raw (which is basically the same as Lightroom, just a slightly different interface).
I've never shot in RAW before, help?
I've got you! There is an added course on using Camera Raw AND we have in depth critiques using the software as well as support in the group. Many people in the class have never photographed in RAW before. You will not be alone, and you CAN do it!
Start creating images of the Milky Way that will blow away your friends and family.
