What is it?
A live 1 hour online masterclass with professional Milky Way photographer Kristine Richer
(That’s me 🙋🏻‍♀️ aka Kristine Rose Photography)

What skill level is required?
You can be a complete beginner photographer or a professional in a different genre.

What do you need?
A DSLR/Mirrorless camera, wide-ish angle lens (18-55mm is fine) and a tripod

What you don’t need?
Expensive gear, epic locations, the PERFECT timing (that one never comes, btw)

How much is it?
This is 100% free! It’s my way of getting more people out and under the stars with their cameras.
We’ll also be opening registration for my signature course “Milky Way Magic” for anyone who has been waiting to join.

I love your trainings I always learn so much!

Thank you for being an awesome teacher and putting so much information out there for us to begin to learn with!

“It was very easy to understand and follow along.

It's not about the most expensive equipment but using what you have to work with.

It's nice to see a real person explain the steps.

“Kristine, this course felt like a breath of fresh night air—I’m so glad I decided to join.

I’ve only been using a digital camera for 12 months, and when I first watched one of your live shoots, I didn’t even know how to operate my camera! I set a challenge for myself to revisit this after a year, and here I am.

You’ve taken a complex and challenging topic and broken it down into manageable, actionable steps.

Will it work for me?

Beginner, amateur, & intermediate photographers:
ALL are welcome and catered to.

Whether you know your aperture/shutter scales forwards and back, lighting ratios, and equivalent exposures, or if you’ve never photographed in manual or RAW before this is for you.

I’ve used my 17 years of teaching experience and created a repeatable formula for photographing the Milky Way that any photographer can follow and get amazing results with.

Frequently Asked Questions

Are there replays available?

There are no replays of the presentation available. It is a live event. However, if you stay for the whole masterclass you can download a comprehensive workbook at the end with charts and key information from the presentation.

**We will likely upload the best replay version onto our proprietary platform that all paid Milky Way Magic course students have access too if they want a quick refresher. This is not something we’ll have available to the general public.

Can I ask questions?

I’ll be doing a Q&A at the end of the presentation answering the most common questions that come up during the presentation. As I want to be mindful of everyone’s time and have this training easily fit into your day, there won’t be time to answer every question and keep the overall training under an hour.

Are seats limited?

Seats are first come first served, we have secured 250 seats per live session with the online platform we’re using. In past trainings I have had upwards of 500 people join at a time. However, I’m doing 5 different sessions so that everyone should be able to attend. I recommend showing up on time!

Do I need zoom or another downloaded software?

You don’t! I wanted it to be as easy as possible for people to join so watching the event is done from right in your browser.

How do I attend?

Choose your day and time and put in your information to register. You’ll get a confirmation email (check your spam if you don’t see it) with the link to join. I will also email you leading up to the day of your chosen time slot with reminders.
When it is time just click the link in your email to watch in your browser.

I’ve done your “Your First Milky Way Photo” Training and/or your “Milky Way Photography Intensive” is this the same thing?

Think of this like the Photo Club version of my other entry level Milky Way trainings I’ve done in the past. In fact, I almost called this “Milky Way Photo Club: LIVE Edition” But I didn’t want to confuse people into thinking I had my own photo club. This training is based off one I’ve done for a variety of photo clubs around the world.

Do you have a more in depth Milky Way Photography training?

Yes! I do. I run an online photography education company at https://nightphotographyacademy.com/
My signature course is called “Milky Way Magic” and has had over a thousand students enroll since I brought it online in 2020. It covers every kind of Milky Way photo (from singles to stacks, to blends!) and has many bonus courses as well.

I open registration for it twice a year (spring/fall) and you’ll have the opportunity to join after this presentation is over if you want to keep learning from me.

Can I learn this on YouTube?

You can learn anything on youtube with enough time, patience and let’s be frank - lots of trial and error.

There is a big difference in attending a seminar with a professional photographer and experienced teacher and watching a 15 minute youtube video from someone who’s photographed the Milky Way on their own.

I’ve taught over ten thousand photographers how to shoot the Milky Way.

Have a question about Milky Way photography? I’ve been asked it. I’ve logged over 300 hours of Milky Way Q&As online in the last 5 years. And I cover all the big ones during this seminar.

This training teaches the repeatable formula I created so any photographer can shoot the Milky Way, and I’ve condensed it into 1 hour so you can get started right away.

MEET YOUR MILKY WAY PHOTOGRAPHY PROFESSOR:

Hi! I'm Kristine

I’ve taught over ten thousand photographers how to photograph the Milky Way in the last 5 years online.

Here’s what I care about:
• Creating safe and supported spaces for photographers.
• More people creating beautiful images.
• Crafting world-class education experiences.

My street cred?

I have a BFA and BDes (NSCAD ‘09) and I started teaching photography at NSCAD University in 2008, a year before I graduated.

I ran the commercial photography studio for an international toy company from 2009-2019 as well as my own photography business in different genres.

For the last 10 years I've focused on photographing the Milky Way and selling and exhibiting my work around the world.
(With two NASA APODs under my belt)

It’s amazing to me that I get to create photos I love, help others do the same and have the flexibility to have time with my young family.
