Dover Campfire

Something alights within me on those warm summer nights. I see it there in the firelight dancing amongst the flames and darting through the sparks

It is quintessential…

A seaside bonfire under thousands of glittering stars, one half of you keeping warm as the chill of the night sets in.

The circle of light from the fire draws you in, encouraging tales to be told and confidences made.

You feel a sense of safety dating back to primordial times, under the fire’s influence all are taken care of.

I dreamt of nights like this as a child. All I wanted was to be by the sea with a crackling fire… and a few marshmallows.
We would often have big bonfires in the fields surrounding our home that I would sit by until the dying embers snuffed out (#safety).

But there was always something so romantic about a bonfire by the sea, that contrast of the elements water and fire in such close proximity.

There is a piece of magic that exists when you sit and watch a bonfire at night. The sparks seem to dance up to the sky to join the glittering stars.

This night as I felt the fire’s warmth sear into my bones I couldn’t help but look up at the small flaming balls in the sky and feel connected on a deep level.
